Think Like a Man

So my inspiration for this look was obviously menswear. I've been obsessed with menswear for a few months now. I love dawning a structured suit or a crisp button up but today I wanted a mix of androgynous and girly. Jeka & I went to see the new movie Think Like a Man and I decided it would be a good idea to dress the part! So I threw on my trousers and my wingtip wedges and headed out to the theater. Menswear doesn't have to be so literal, you just have to find the right elements that work for your body. The weather has been so weird in NYC that I had to put on my trench coat to complete these look. I hope this inspire you dolls to put the pants on...so to speak. xo, Jeke

IBS Haul & Shenanigans

Thanks to a friend we were able to get into the International Beauty Show and get a few beauty products for practically nothing. Guess who was excited about that? Remember ladies, fashion isn't just about the clothes you wear, its about your overall look and that includes your hair.
I'm obsessed with hair products, I may or may not have a drawer filled with all kinds of lotions and potions that promise to restore, re-shine, regrow your locks. I always want more especially since you should change your hair regimen every 6 weeks or so. Here's what I managed to get:

Macadamia Oil is sulfate and paraben free and oh so soft for all hair types. Best of all, its color safe! I love sulfate free products since I decided to go all natural 3 years ago and believe me it works wonders. This kit usually retails for about $45 and I got it for $20.

Alfaparf Midollo, its a new product that I used just yesterday and the verdict: *drumroll* LOVE IT! I wish I had stocked up on more. Its great for hair that needs to be restored and moisturized. Both products: $15

I didnt buy anything from Morroccan Oil because I already own their products (I told you I have a problem) but isnt that bag super cute?! I have 6 of them. I know I got carried away but hey, they were giving them out. I couldn't help myself.

I had to stay for the Marvin Young presentation! He is an amazing Master Hair Stylist, yes I was freaking out when he cut the models beautiful long hair with clippers! He truly is an artist and I'm going to need him to come live with me and do my hair every morning. He is just so full of energy and fun and great.

Her History

Anything vintage tells a story of something bigger than us and knowing that story makes it that much more meaningful. The gold, pearl earrings were made by the hands of my mother when she first came to this country at the age of 18. The paisley skirt, is also a skirt that she wore in her twenties. Never mind the fact that they're beautiful and timeless, just knowing that I have something of hers that I can pass on to my future children is an amazing feeling. Her history may not be in textbooks but it will be documented in photographs for generations.

Tigress on the prowl...

Jeka and I for some odd reason were inspired this week with the animal inside us. These tiger printed pants by LYS were an amazing find! What better than to wear them on a stroll in our favorite park! Some may be skeptical about wearing prints when you are bottom heavy but its really about finding the perfect balance. So just for today I became a coy tigress...;) xo, Jeke

Hello there Sailor...

One of my favorite seasons is... resort wear! I love this stripe sailor inspired skirt. Instead of pairing with a typical red tank, i layered my look with an aqua Calvin Klein top. The gold details of the skirt pops the color without needing to wear a necklace, just some  delicate accessories to bring the outfit together. Great look for work or just a great evening out. xo, Jeke

Easter Sunday is big holiday. This time of year people usually turn to a floral print dress and nice wide brim hat. This year I opted for a bold orange maxi dress and navy floppy hat. Maxi dresses are such a staple in every wardrobe. I have this one in 3 colors! I know, I know. I couldn't help it! xo, Jeke

Minty Fresh

In this February 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazzar they did an editorial of the mint color. This Calvin Klein roll tab top is my absolute favorite. They call it bay, I say its mint! A great spring/summer hue to color block or wear with simple black pants. Color blocking is definitely in for the season, however this is neutral way to depict the trend. No matter what shape or size you are color blocking is a go for everyone. xo, Jeke

The coral blazer is thrifted from my mother closest. I love going through her wardrobe and "borrowing" her 80's & 90's clothes. I advice all fashionistas to rummage through their parents' closest, you'd always have something one of a kind that every will be dying to have. Pair bold accessories with soft colors to make a statement and of course I had to bring out the sandals on this beautiful sunny day in NYC.
