Best Dressed: MET Gala 2012

I hope you all were watching the MET Gala live stream on vogue.com, we definitely were! I hope they stream it every year! There were many contenders for best dressed but we had to narrow it down to the top 3! The biggest trends of the night were Schiaparelli pink, metallic and fringe! May Must Haves

Since fashion is always being recycled and you want to stay in the now, we wanted to post about a few of  our fave pieces. Remember fashion isnt about trends, its about making a statement with your own individual style. We're curious to see how you can incorporate these pieces into your own looks. Who knows? You just might be featured in a future post:

The Ring

This Thomas Laine statement ring can be paired with pretty much anything, including an evening gown. I just might get two, wear one on each hand. Go ahead, be daring! 

The Bag

Unless you've been living under a rock, you may have noticed that pastels and comfort is huge this season. I love having my ginormous bag but lets be honest, sometimes you just want something that will hold your essentials and you can have a free walk in the park, museum or whatever is it that you're doing. A cross-body that turns into a clutch? Now thats a twofer! Plus, its super cute and you can go crazy combining all sorts of colors, I'd pair this bag with a mint green top or a belt. 

The Flat

Remember the jelly sandals that everyone loved to hate in the 90s? Not me, I've always loved them and have been looking for a vintage pair. The 90s are back by the way, I know you've noticed! I digress, Melissa does a different take on that very sandal and made it her own. Rubber shoes are good for rain and your feet. Can you say comfy? How adorable are these with the bow, you can rock it with a maxi or midi skirt or shorts or...pretty much anything because they come in a variety of colors. You know you want to wear them, go get them! 

The Wedge 

I love wedges! Ok, let me say that again; I LOVE WEDGES! Its about time wedges didnt get criticized for not being a an actual heel. Which it is. I absolutely love all the patterns, prints and cutouts that have been happening in wedge world. Yes, theyre comfortable and if your going out on a date, to a club, to an event or even just to go shopping, your feet will thank you. Ashbury Skies has these great affordable pair because lets be honest we dont all have budget to purchase these Gareth Pugh's

Shop & Swap

We wanted to share our great experience that we had attending the Shop & Swap hosted by your very own Kellie B of Fatshion Insider , Gabi of GabiFresh, Nicollete Mason, Nadia Aboulhosn, and Ty of GorgeousInGrey. We arrived late... HA, we're always fashionably late! We get to Tammany Hall, walked down and then up the stairs to the main floor, where our fellow bloggers and retailers; SimplyBe, Lane Bryant, MadisonPlus were stationed. We immediately invaded the racks looking for anything we can share on our blog. First stop, Simply Be! We were greeted by the precious models & we're snapped a photo to share on Instagram.

Beck Delude/Manfattan Project
Soon after, the gorgeous Beck Delude of The Manfattan Project adored my ensemble and asked for a photo. That made us feel better since Jeke was mistaken for a prostitute when she asked a local for directions! HAHA! I know, crazy right? You guys take a look at the pics and let us know if you thought Jeke looked suggestive.

Next, we stopped at LYS. Remember that post Tigress on the Prowl? Well, Jeke's tiger print pants were on the rack and we raved to LYS designer Sarah Morgan, how its the best printed pant we purchased. We absolutely adored the collection she showed. Its trendy and affordable, what more can budget fashionistas ask for? 

Beck Delude/Manfattan Project
The 3 floor event had us pumped as we went downstairs to meet the other bloggers like Ty from GorgeousInGrey, who's amazing shoes I couldn't purchase because they didn't fit! Ugh! Maybe next time! Nadia made it fashionably late with her fab vintage dress a-la Brenda Walsh. I snagged two accessories from her booth, a pair of vintage clip on earrings and aviator shades. Nadia is really down to earth and may we say a great dancer.  As we made our way back to the main floor, Jeke's name was chosen for a raffle. She won a $250 gift card to Lane Bryant! Woot, woot! Of course that will be split between the two of us!

We were so excited we got to meet the director of marketing for Lane Bryant, Heather McGarry. She gave us some great news but our lips are totally sealed! We can say that starting May 3rd, Lane Bryant will be having a BOGO sale. I love when they have those! We'll share our purchases in a future post.

After a bit of head bopping we had to head home. This event was a great way for all curvy women to accompany each other shopping, mingling and networking and still feel comfortable around one another.
